Need for Pro-Cure Technology

As has been outlined in other sections of this Business Plan, conventional prostate therapies are largely palliative. At present many cases of prostate cancer in the UK are not detected until the disease has advanced (when the patient’s prognosis is poor) and in those cases where the disease is caught early, more than 20% of men suffer a return of the disease. Moreover, current therapies, which include surgery and chemotherapy, have debilitating side effects, which include incontinence and impotence.

The coming decade will see the emergence of more potent and selective drugs following advances over the last decade in human genetics and proteomics and in this respect, Pro-Cure believes it will be a leading contributor. As a result of work progressed by Pro-Cure and the Company’s expertise in the isolation and handling of prostate cancer stem cells, Pro-Cure was able to undertake gene profiling at a much earlier stage and believes it is up to two years ahead of the competition in this specialised area.
